Day by day
Dear guest, we welcome you on this trip! We thank you for the trust you have placed in us and will do everything we can to provide you with an unforgettable trip. Please draw your attention to the following: Check-in is at 10:00 am at Bluewing Airlines at Zorg en Hoop airport. The departure time is around 11:00 am with destination the Aucan village of “Godoholo”. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes with a Caravan aircraft. At the airport you will be welcomed by the Wayana team, after which you will walk through the village to the riverbank and board the Korjaal. During the walk you will get various impressions of life and culture in a marron village. After a few minutes of sailing, a short stop is made for lunch. The next phase is more than an hour of sailing on the beautiful Tapanahony river, surrounded by the dense jungle, after which we will camp with an Aucan family on “Soentjekampoe”. This is a simple hammock camp where we will spend the night.
The morning starts early with packing and breakfast, after which the boat trip continues. The first 3 hours involve sailing through some very impressive rapids before reaching Granbori. Depending on the water level in the river, you will walk via forest paths to the rear of the Granbori-sula, so that it is easier for the boatswain to get through the rapids.
After Granbori we go to the river island of KrinKasaba, a perfect place to relax and have lunch. While preparing lunch you can stretch your legs, swim, bathe or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view.
During the final long phase of the boat trip there are 2 more short breaks, one in the Wayana village “TutuKampu” and one at the Punsula rapids, after which we reach Apetina in the afternoon.
After such an impressive, strenuous and long boat trip, it will of course be pleasant to move into the Kuluwayaklodge, followed by an introduction to the Wayana people.
You wake up in the lovely Kuluwayaklodge, with a panoramic view of the Tapanahony River. The sunrise here is truly beautiful! On this day, led by a guide, you will take a walk in the village, get to know the community and get a good impression of daily life in a Wayana village. In the afternoon you sail to the Punsula to cool off and take a bath. When you return, you can enjoy a delicious meal in the evening.
This day is again very fun and exciting, because you will climb the Tebu Top mountain. After breakfast you will sail there, first of all to take a walk in the forest and then climb the Tebu Top, accompanied by the guides. At the top you have a great panoramic view over the Surinamese rainforest, with various surrounding mountains rising from it. After the Tebu Top experience you will sail to the impressive Grandafutu sula where we will have lunch, swim and relax. In the afternoon you sail back to Apetina.
Unfortunately, the last day has already arrived. After breakfast you have the opportunity to buy souvenirs from the ladies. Then it’s cleaning up and packing. After greeting the village, you sail to the airport from where you fly back to Zorg en Hoop airport in Paramaribo.
