7 days jungle hiking

Dear Guest, welcome to this trip. This jungle expedition is very adventurous because during this trip you will enjoy the fascinating highland rainforest, sailing and walking, including the climb of the Tebu Top and the Rosevelt Peak.

Check-in is in the morning hours at Vortex airline at Zorg en Hoop airport. The flight takes over an hour with a Cessna aircraft to Apetina.
You will be welcomed at the airport by the Wayana team, after which you will walk to the riverbank to board the Korjaal.
After a few minutes of sailing you arrive in the village where you move into the Kuluwayak guesthouse followed by an introduction to the Wayana people.
After lunch and afternoon rest you will sail to the Punsula to cool off and take a bath.
When you return, you can enjoy a delicious meal in the evening.

You wake up in the lovely Kuluwayaklodge, with a panoramic view of the Tapanahony River. The sunrise here is truly beautiful! After a delicious Surinamese breakfast, the boat trip to the Grandafutusala follows. As a warm-up for the hike, depending on the group and the guides, the Tebu Top can be climbed after arrival or in the afternoon. This will serve as a good warm-up and conditioning for the upcoming walking expedition. In the evening you can enjoy dinner along the sula.

After you have woken up and enjoyed breakfast, we get ready to go to the Rosevelt Peak where we will walk through nature enjoying everything there is to see and experience. In between there is a break for lunch after which we continue to a suitable place to spend the night. This night you will sleep in the middle of the jungle to be rested for the next day.

Awakened by the birdsong and other forest sounds, you will first enjoy your breakfast. Jungle style. That also applies to lunch. We then continue the journey on foot to Pieterkamp where we will spend the night.

Today you will experience the Rosevelt Peak. After breakfast we immediately leave for the hike to the Rosevelt Peak. We carefully follow the instructions of the guides while enjoying the beautiful view of the Surinamese rainforest and the other excellent mountains, including the previously climbed Tebu Top! After all the impressions we arrive at Pieterkamp in the afternoon. Once there we prepare to go to Pensakamp where we will spend the night at the corner of the Tusu and the Pensakreek. There you have the opportunity to fish for those who wish. After enjoying a delicious dinner you can relax.

After you get up, you can take a refreshing dip in the creek and then enjoy your breakfast. After exploring the area, we prepare to sail in the Tusu Creek, after which we arrive in the village in the afternoon. In the afternoon you will take a walk in the village led by the guide, get to know the community and get a good impression of daily life in a Wayana village.

Unfortunately, the last day has already arrived. After breakfast you have the opportunity to buy souvenirs from the ladies. Then it’s cleaning up and packing. After greeting the village, you sail to the airport from where you fly back to Zorg en Hoop airport in Paramaribo.
